Keys History & Discovery Center Presents… is a popular and well-attended lecture series featuring renowned authors, professors and scientists. Donations offset speaker honorariums, marketing and costs associated with virtual platform and equipment needs. We are seeking one series title sponsor, three season sponsors and individual lecture sponsors.

Curator Connections program offerings resulted from the Spring 2020 extended stay-at-home order and feature Cocktails with the Curator and Community Views. Curator Brad Bertelli added to the program line-up in Fall 2020 with Florida Keys Stories, through which he shares exclusive material for our members monthly via e-mail. Jerry Wilkinson Research Library
The Jerry Wilkinson Research Library is attracting scholars, researchers and amateur genealogists. The long-term goal is to provide digital access to each document and photo; the short-term goal is to enter each group of materials into a user-friendly catalog allowing researchers to explore topics of interest in an organized fashion. Your gift supports subscription requirements, archival supplies, furnishings and the work of trained librarians and archivist. Gifts made at the $1,000 level or above will receive name recognition on the KeysDiscovery.com website and within the Research Library.
The Anchor Exhibit is a permanent exhibit featuring a 18th century anchor, salvaged by Art McKee in the 1940s from the wreck of the El Infante, part of the 1733 New Spain fleet wrecked during a hurricane off Key Largo. Recently restored, it is on long-term loan from the Mel Fisher Museum. Donations support exhibit development, installation and maintenance. Gifts made at the $1,000 level or above will receive name recognition on the KeysDiscovery.com website and within the exhibit.

Caroenas Cuban Boat Exhibit
The Caroenas Cuban Boat Exhibit is a permanent exhibit outside of the Discovery Center. Completing the project includes adding interpretive storyboards exploring the reasons and realities of the attempted crossing of the hazardous stretch of water separating Cuba from the United States. Gifts made at the $1,000 level or above will receive name recognition on the KeysDiscovery.com website and within the exhibit.
Fundraising Goal: $10,000.
The Keys History & Discovery Center’s 35 seat theater features state-of-the-art 4K technology and stunning color, sound and design. Numerous naming opportunities exist to have your name, or those of your loved ones, as a lasting tribute in this exciting and unique theater. Gifts to the theater provide significant support to offset the costs of development and ongoing operations of the space.

Endowment gifts allow you to make a long-term impact on the Keys History & Discovery Center. These funds are invested and sustain the organization in perpetuity. The Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation maintains the Meeks Endowment which accepts gifts in the form of cash, checks, wire transfers and security transfers of stocks, bonds and mutual funds.
Legacy giving, or identifying the Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation as a beneficiary in your will or estate plan, does not require a large income or vast estate. Legacy giving only requires a thoughtful intention to make a difference.
