Jerry Wilkinson Research Library
The Jerry Wilkinson Research Library is a non-circulating library and reading room at the Keys History & Discovery Center. Your donation will help us process and digitize the unique documents, photos, pieces of artwork, memorabilia and other historical materials, including previously not yet digitized microfilm run of Keys Veterans News from the early 1930s, invaluable oral histories dating back to the 1970s and original photographs and maps previously belonging to Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast Railway Chief Engineer, William Krome that are just some of the items contained in the Research Library’s collections.

Lecture Series
Over the past four years, our lecture series Keys History & Discovery Presents has become our most popular program. The 2018/19 series begins in October with a revealing presentation by our curator, Brad Bertelli, on how tall tales reshape local history. It is followed by twelve additional lectures an interesting array of topics such as endangered sawfish, the 1733 Spanish galleon trail and the legacy of FDR’s WPA in Florida. Our goal this year is to make it easier for locals to dig into history and discover something new and fascinating about the piece of paradise they call home. So we are decreasing the non-member fee from $25 to $10. We have received financial support through grants and donations totaling more than $12,000, but we still need to raise $20,000 to offset costs this season.

The Keys History & Discovery Center’s 35 seat theater features state-of-the-art 4K technology and stunning color, sound and design. Numerous naming opportunities exist to have your name, or those of your loved ones, as a lasting tribute in this exciting and unique theater. Planned Giving
Endowment gifts allow you to make a long-term impact on the Keys History & Discovery Center. These funds are invested and sustain the organization in perpetuity. The Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation maintains an endowment with Islamorada Investment Management. The endowment accepts gifts in the form of cash, checks, wire transfers and security transfers of stocks, bonds and mutual funds.

Legacy giving does not require a large income or vast estate. Legacy giving only requires a thoughtful intention to make a difference by identifying the Keys History and Discovery Foundation as a beneficiary in your will or estate plan.

For more information on planned giving options please contact Executive Director Jill Miranda Baker at executivedirector@keysdiscovery.com or 305-922-2237.
